About AariJoy

AariJoy is built from lived experience.

Its foundation comes from years spent navigating autism, ADHD, complex communication, disability systems, education systems, and the realities many neurodivergent individuals and families face every day.

That lived experience is supported by ongoing study, research, professional practice, and a deep commitment to understanding people as individuals — not just through labels, behaviours, or assumptions.

AariJoy brings together observation, reflection, and pattern recognition across communication, behaviour, environment, relationships, sensory experiences, and emotional wellbeing.

By paying close attention to the nuances — speech, body language, behaviour, tone, interactions, and context.

AariJoy works alongside individuals and families to better understand what may be happening beneath the surface.

What We Do

AariJoy is about working together to understand the bigger picture.

This may include:

  • noticing patterns that are not immediately obvious

  • exploring how communication may be showing up in different ways

  • considering sensory, emotional, environmental, and relational factors

  • drawing on a wide range of perspectives, including both lived experience and research

From there, AariJoy offers guidance, mentoring, advocacy, and support to help individuals and families move forward in ways that feel practical, respectful, sustainable, and aligned with who they are.

Meet Jo

Founder and Director of AariJoy.

AariJoy was created from a combination of lived experience, professional practice, and a deep commitment to building a world where neurodivergent people are understood, valued, and supported to thrive.

I've spent years navigating disability, education, health, and community systems from both personal and professional perspectives. Those experiences have shaped a practical, compassionate approach that looks beyond behaviours and labels to understand the person, their strengths, and the environments around them.

I believe meaningful support begins with listening, curiosity, and the presumption of competence. Whether I'm walking alongside an individual, supporting a family, advocating within systems, or helping create communication-accessible environments, my focus is always the same: creating space for understanding, communication, and connection.

Through AariJoy, my hope is to contribute to communities where every person has the opportunity to experience being, becoming, and belonging.
